If statement

What rule would this IF statement fall under?

I am now an accountant because I made a decision 5 years ago to study accounting as opposed to becoming a professional ballerina.

If I hadn't studied accounting, I would have been a ballerina.

What is the rule for this IF statement? I know about the Present Unreal Conditional, would this be a Past Unreal Conditional?

Hope someone can help, thanks in advance, I'll be anxiously awaiting!

It certainly is a Past Unreal Conditional. This pattern is also called the "Third Conditional", by the way. CJ

If I hadn't studied accounting, I would have been a ballerina.

I feel that the above sentence is not very correct. Compare the following sentences with each other:-

a) If I hadn't studied accounting, I would have been a simple clerk..

b) If I hadn't gone to school, I would have been illiterate.

c)
