Difficulties living in foreign countries.



Studying abroad and living overseas has become common life style around the world these days. They have new cultural awareness and the exciting time for every happening and daily matters, while a number of difficulties are existed. In terms of my experiences in studying in , there were several difficulties and this essay will describe them.



The one of my difficulties is that own common sense does not always make sense. When I was staying in Australia, I learned many different life styles between Australia and . For example, in Australia, the most of supermarkets, restaurants and department stores are closed earlier time than ’s ones that was at around 6 o’clock. So it was hard to be used for making time for shopping before the shops were closed. In addition, there were not so many 24 hours convenient stores in my place. As a result, I needed to know well what I had to buy every shopping and manage my time to go to shop during opening hours. Another example is described by taking transportation. In , every time the commuters can listen the announcement for the next bus station so that people who travel to somewhere first time could get off the destination easily and correctly. However, in , they don’t have any announcement and I had to notify by pushing the bottom when I would like to get off the bus. If I went to the place that was first time for me, it was very hard to get known whether the place was correct or not. As seen my experiences, it has many differences for daily matters and my common knowledge are not useful in . ???



Through those experiences, I could learn many things that I am used to do in my country is not taking for granted in another place. People who live in foreign country need to be adopt their foreign life style and manage or organise their time and planning. This is not negative point but it enable to understand their culture and their thinking for foreigners. Australian very love to spend time at their home with their family and this is why many shops are closed earlier for enabling to stay home. From this example, I could understand their thinking for family and their importance. For foreigners, we should respect and learn their different thinking and life style and at the time we can really enjoy living in foreign countries sincerely.
