"If she knew that he was a police office, she would not do it."

"If she knew that he was a police office, she would not do it."

This question is about conditionals and I was wondering if verbs in that clauses should follow tense agreement like 'was' or the sentence is not related to the past, so it should not follow tense agreement like 'is'

Subjects + were or past tense, Subjects + would /could/ should...(Conditional 2)

Or does it depend on context?

What do you native English speakers think?

Thank you so much as usual in advance.
