If it wasn't him Or If it hadn't been him??
Teachers, please see this sentence below:
A: I can't believe I slept with him.
B: If it wasn't him, it would be someone else eventually.
From my understanding of some grammar books, I believe the second sentence should be like this:
If if it hadn't been him, it would have been someone else eventually, because it is an unreal past situation ("it was him" is a real situation.) Please anyone help. Thanks in advance.

The sentence: ''If it hadn't been him, it would have been someone else eventually'' is definitely correct (according to the grammar rules concerning conditional sentences).
