If I were vs If I was

a)If I were at home, I would be watching TV.
b)If I was at home, I would be watching TV.

As far as the correctness is concerned, both "If I was..." and "If I were..." are correct. I think "If I were..." has now become old-fashioned. Now a days, "If I was...", I think, is more common. Nevertheless, I personally prefer "If I were..." to "If I was...".

I would agree that "If I was ..." is more common in everyday speech. "If I were ..." feels more formal, but I would not say it is quite old-fashioned .... yet.

By the way, please note that you need a space after a closing bracket. This incorrect spacing:

a)If I were at home ...

And this is correct:

a) If I were at home ...
