Which sentence is correct?

"What would I be doing if I were to partake in this business?"

Because the first one uses the subjunctive mood, which is gradually declining in usage, and being replaced by the simple past. "Correctness" changes over time. We do not speak like Englishmen at the time of Shakespeare because the language evolves.

Sorry, I don't understand the meaning of the tense "I be doing", which one is? I only know the similar tense "I will be doing".
