If I were_____ I wouldn’t do this. (him / he)

I think either pronoun is correct? Am I right?

I believe "he" is grammatically correct but I don't remember the last time someone said that. A lot of people and I would happily say "If I were him, I wouldn't do this.".

Hopefully someone else will comment on this.
