Is this sentence natural? Any suggestion is welcome.

If I were a tight fist, I would be far richer a man today than I am now.

I don't say it that way. If I were more tight-fisted , I would be a far richer man (than I am). There's also: If I had been more tight-fisted throughout my life, I would be a far richer man today.

I don't say it that way.
