If I sell or If am selling (if clause)

Which one should I use?

If I sell/am selling the components to an American customer, the minimum order quantity (MOQ) will be five tons.
Does using "I sell" make it sound as if the MOQ changes to five tons after the purchase is made, which doesn't make sense?

What really puzzles me is, what makes you think that using sell/selling would make such a difference? Am I missing something in those tenses or did I just misunderstand your point? Your question was expected to be about "will be", not about those verbs, if I got it correctly.

  • Both are present, anyway.
  • If the supplier and the customer are in the same field of business, why would either be afraid that the other might think of something that doesn't make sense?

No.

???(Skywarrior)Which one should I use?

If I sell is fine. If I'm selling is not wrong either, but to my ear it sounds more casual in style rather than business-like.

If it's "If I sell the components to an American customer, the MOQ will be higher", will it sound as if the MOQ becomes higher after the transaction is done?
