If I didn't give him money
Which is correct:
1) He didn't have any money. If I didn't give him some, he wouldn't be able to go home. But I gave him a bus fare and he managed to get home.
2) He didn't have any money. If I hadn't given him some, he wouldn't have been able to go home. But I gave him a bus fare and he managed to get home.
