If I never found out about Charles,
would you have ever told me the truth?
or
If I hadn't found out about Charles,
would you have ever told me the truth?
Which one do you think is true ?
My guess is the latter one.
Because we are talking about something happened in the past and
was found in the past.
So its neither present time nor the future time we are talking about.
That is why I am going with past perfect.
