I know you might be wondering about my daily existence as it emerges from your last letter. But after I moved to , it’s only through mass media I have experienced misery. I want to tell you a little about how that feels.

Every morning I get out of bed at 7 o’clock. After a shower I go out in the kitchen, make coffee and set the table. Then I collect the newspaper and while I eat my breakfast I read it.

Again today there are articles about terrible things happening all over the world in this instant. For example there is an article about terrorist, keeping over 100 children hostages in a bank. There are also pictures of children starving in Africa and refugees suffering in . On the front page there is an article about the situation home in . It’s hard to imagine political prisoners being tortured in prisons, while I’m sitting comfortable drinking morning coffee.

Sometimes accidents happen here in . Yesterday, for example, when I was eating breakfast I heard a loud bang. I ran to the window and saw a house burning. A crowd rushed together, while others watched the flames crawling op the house walls. Meanwhile ambulances and fire engines arrived and the fire was soon put out. The paramedics searched long for residents in the house – they didn’t know the whole family was in . It’s often like that here: when accidents happen the help is near, even though it’s only effecting things.

Tonight when I turn on the television, I will again be feeling ill at ease, because your misery is my entertainment.
