If A converges, and B is converges, then A is convergent.

I have no clue (not even one bit) on determining which of the following is correct.

1. If A converges, and B is converges, then A is convergent.

2. If A converges, and B converges, then A is convergent.

The more I look at them, the less confident that I become. Emotion: cryingEmotion: sweating

I can make the problem more terrible by adding this: If A converges, and B does converge, then A is convergent.

I'm so desperate for help. Thanks...

ILEThanks, c45. Actually I meant I don't know why the first sentence is wrong... because you cannot say "B is converges"
just as you cannot say 'He is sleeps' or 'I is walk'. That is not correct English grammar.

I'm also not sure if the second sentence can or cannot be replaced by If A converges, and B does converge, then A

I think you may be using words that have strict definitions in mathematics, but not in ordinary language. This is a problem for many of us. In ordinary language, the status of B would have nothing to do with the status of A in this scenario.

If A converges, then A is (called) 'convergent'.

(B can converge or not; A is still convergent. Or at least I would suppose this, not

Now I see your point. Thanks, c45.

canadian45You could say that, but why would you want to say something that awkward.

All right,
