Some people think that children should begin their formal education at a very early age. Some think they should begin at at least 7 years old. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
People tend to hold different views about the suitable age for children to go to school. While some think it should be begun at their early age, others, myself included, see greater merits in starting their formal education at at least 7 years old.
On the one hand, there are two primary reasons why children should go to school at their young age. First, parents could have more time for their jobs when their children go to school earlier. Since the living standards nowadays have been obviously higher than that in the past, the parents have to keep striving their best to make a living for the whole family. Therefore, if the children begin their academic education at an early age, there will be a chance for the parents to focus on their career and achieve their target, getting promotions for example. Second, attending school at young age enables children to become mature earlier. In fact, via the academic curriculum, schoolchildren could obtain many necessary qualities in personality. For instance, by giving children homeworks, they would build up their own sense of responsibility of having to finish the tasks.
On the other hand, letting children start formal education when they are at least 7 years old is believed to be more beneficial in a number of ways. The logic behind this is that children need more time to discover the open world before becoming busy with many exercises at school. The amount of time before they turn 7 is the ideal time for them to complete their spiritual life as they want to explore tons of things to satisfy their curiosity. Furthermore, the importance of children's childhood should be taken into consideration. Many researches have found that a child who has meaningful childhood memories would be able to become more successful in the future compared to the others. Therefore, parents should not force children to begin their academic education until they are at least 7 years old.
To conclude, although letting children go to school at young age is advantageous to some extent, postponing this until they turn 7 brings about more favourable outcomes. Parents therefore should facilitate their children to have memorable childhood.
