The line graph illustrates the comparison of three different categories of crime in England and Wales between 1970 and 2005.

Overall, the crime rates of car theft and house burglary increased markedly in the middle years of the period shown whilst there was a slight fluctuation in the figure for street robbery throughout the stage.

The car theft crime rating, which rose swiftly during the first 25 years, dropped back to 1 millions in the last years surveyed. Although the figure of car theft experienced a plunge, it kept the first place in 2005. Also, the figure of house burglary had an upward trend to reach a peak at 0.5 millions and then descended gradually to 0.36 millions. Unlike the crime rates of car theft and house burglary, the figure of street robbery made no difference at all. The number of street robbery crimes hovered around 0.05 millions over the whole period.

In conclusion, the rankings of three different crime groups have not changed as compared to the first years of the whole period. Car theft and house burglary were the main criminal groups in England and Wales while street robbery was the lowest.
