The charts below give information about travel to and from the UK, and about the most popular countries for UK residents to visit.

The line graph compares the number of UK visitors going abroad and overseas residents travelling to the UK over a 20-year period, and the bar chart illustrates 5 countries most welcomed by UK citizens in the year 1999.

It is clear from the graph that the quantity of visits to and from the UK witnessed upward trends. Additionally, people in the UK preferred to visit France more than other nations

According to the first graph, there was an increase in the number of international travellers to the UK by 18 million to 28 million in 1999, while the figure for UK people visiting overseas was significantly higher, it reached a top of 55 million visitors in the same year.

According to the second graph, the quantity of UK residents going to France was highest, at approximately 11 million. Spain was the second common destination among the UK, it had around 9 million visitors in 1999. In the same year, only 2 million and 3 million people came to Turkey and Greece respectively.
