Ielts Writting task 2

People are having more and more sugar-based drinks. What are the reasons? What are the solutions to make people drink less.

Humans are now consuming an increasing quantity of sweetened beverages. There are several reasons for this phenomenon as well as some viable measures to reduce the consumption of these drinks.

There are two primary reasons that lead to the overconsumption rate. Firstly, the successful marketing strategy attracts a massive number of customers around the world. For example, Coca-Cola has allocated a huge amount of money to famous actors or music stars to endorse its commercials, which manipulates the audience, especially the young, to purchase its products. Secondly, although these substances give users an instant energy boost to help them focus more effectively on work, they can cause a drop in energy after consumption so quickly that people have to drink another one to get an extra boost. This consequently leads to the popularity of sugar-based drinks.

Some approaches should be adopted by the government and individuals to mitigate the production of sugary drinks. Imposing heavy tax on these products might be an effective way to ease sugar-sweetened beverage intake among customers. Another method is raising customers’ awareness and knowledge of a healthy diet and lifestyle that encourage them to follow a healthy lifestyle and refrain from using sugar-based drinks.

In conclusion, the overuse of sugary drinks results from the energy drink abuse and the development of the beverage industry. However, if the aforementioned measures are taken there are various appropriate steps need to be taken to tackled this problem.
