Nowadays, more and more people decide to have children later in their life. What are the reasons? What are the effects on society and family life?

It is true that having children later in life is a trend that many people follow in this modern life. There are a number of reasons behind this problem and effects on society and family life.

There are two primary reasons why people choose to have children later. Firstly, it is hard for them to get promotion opportunities when they have children at their young ages. They will have to spend a lot of time to raise their children up. As a result, they couldn’t dedicate themselves to their work and will lose opportunities for higher position. Secondly, embarking on parenthood early prevent them from saving money. Their income will be partially spent on school fee, food, clothes for their children. This makes them run out of money and struggle with their own finance.

Having children later in life exerts some influences not only on family life but also the whole society. The first is that it has negative effects on mother and child health. Scientifically, a woman who gives birth to a child after 30 years old might face miscarriage and the child may get Down syndrome. Furthermore, the country will experience rapid population aging. It will be lacking of young workforce in the future that makes the economy on the brink of being collapsed.

In conclusion, it is clear that there are various reasons for the phenomena that more and more parents decide to start their family later in life and negative effects on both family life and society.
