Ielts writting task 2

The question:

• Overpopulation of urban areas has led to numerous problems.
• Identify one or two serious ones and suggest ways that governments and individuals can tackle these problems.

My answer:

The urban overpopulation is growing at an alarming rate. That is the reasons for a variety of serious troubles. This essay will focus on analyzing major issues caused by the overpopulation in the cities and discussing on solutions.

There are two significant problems as the consequence of overpopulation in urban areas. First of all, the improvement of public infrastructure is not inconsistent with the need of citizens. The degradation of roads as well as the lack of public space are advantages of living in crowded cities.

Furthermore, the other serious issue of overpopulation is pollution. The more inhabitants live in the cities, the larger amount of litter they create. It becomes an expressing concern of almost citizens because they have suffered the low standard of in local environmental quality and the high risk of infectious diseases.

A number of solutions must been given to tackle this problem. In terms of government, they need to have long-term strategies which will be concentrating on 2 key points. Firstly, developing the rural economy is considered as a sustainable way to reduce the number of people moving to big cities. Secondly, the improvement and redistribution infrastructure should be kept up with the growth population in the urban areas. A reasonable infrastructure plan would be the key for the questions about high traffic density and inadequate accommodation. As for individual responsibility, each person need to have much greater awareness of this problem in order to make migration decisions or improve the city life quality by using public transportation regularly, gathering litter in right place and so on.

All in all, the increasing of population in the cities leads to numerous unavoidable issues. Both the government and individuals must take action to address the drawbacks of urban overpopulation.
