IELTS Writting task 1

The line graph provides information on the number of foreign visitors to three different kinds of natural landscapes in a European country over 20-years period from 1987 to 2007.

Generally, the influx of foreign people travelling to each area experienced significant rise, and especially the mountain travel was the dominating type for the majority of the period shown.

In 1997, more than 40 thousands of visitors from overseas visited the coast which quadrupled the number of lakes travelers. For the first ten years there was a fluctuation between 35 and 50 thousands in this figure before rising dramatically to around 75 thousands in 2007. Meanwhile, starting off modestly, the number of foreign travelers soared steeply to reach the peak at more than 75 thousands in 2002 when the lakes overlook the coast in term of popularity, followed by a sudden drop to 50 thousands thereafter.

The number of tourists to mountainous areas recorded an erratic trend. Specifically, the figure fluctuated wildly and hit the bottom at 20 thousands in 1995. It’s noticeable that the mountains and the lakes had the same number overseas travelers.
