Some people think that employers should not care about the way their employees dress, because what matters is the quality of their work. To what extent do you agree or disagree?



The conception of dress codes has been gradually changing in this interdependent workplace, regarding more focus on the working results. While I believe the way people dress should be considered irrelevant in some contexts, I still concur with the necessity of obliged clothes in specific careers.

On the one hand, the relaxation of dress codes is properly appreciated in the job requiring creativity. In other words, some careers would take advantage of comfort when working by virtue of stimulation of the creativity. In fact, works regarding marketing have driven heavier requisites for innovation in this competitive world, thus people who are more inventive will win. For example, Facebook - the prestigious company allows its staffs to freely wear clothes to go to work so as to create unconstrained contexts, facilitating ability of imagination.

On the other hand, the obligation of formal and professional dresses seems to be relevant in several occupations for good reasons. Firstly, the rules of wearing uniforms make staff to become more disciplinary, which brings merits to those serious jobs such as policeman and firefighters. Secondly, doctors and engineers are to wear special clothes to be more professional, thus bringing more believes to other people. Furthermore, in these cases, dresses blur all inequality in working environment. As a result, dresses in some certain situations play an important role in uniquely supporting the working processes.

In conclusion, I uphold the idea of employers not telling their staff how to dress, but I still believe that it is not applicable to all kinds of careers. Based on different types of work, managers should take the dress codes into consideration so as to boost working efficiency.
