The line graph illustrates the proportion of Australian products exported to 4 countries including Japan, the USA, China, and India over the period of 22 years starting from 1990.

As an overall trend, it is apparent that whilst the number of products, which Australia exported to Japan and America dramatically declined, the opposite was true for the export rate of Australia to China and India over the period. In addition, the significant upward trend in the figure for exports makes China. become the overseas exported market in Australia. At the beginning of the observed period, Japan was the leading market of Australia with the number of goods exported accounting for over 25% as opposed to only below 5% the figure for Chinese imports to Australia. However, a considerable decrease of roughly 15% was witnessed in the number of Australian goods exported to Japan while the figure for that to China substantially accelerated to nearly 30% in 2012.

Another glance at the graph reveals that the number of American imports to Australia made up over 10%, which was 10 times the exports to India in 1990. Although the quantities of products exported to the USA marginally oscillated around 10%, the figure for Indian imports reached a plateau at approximately 0% between 1990 and 2000. Over the following period of 10 years, the number of Indian goods imported to Australia surpassed that of the US but plummeted slightly to 5% by the end of the period.
