The appearance of the internet has always been an issue of concern to the public. While some people suggest that the internet pushes people further apart, I believe that it makes us closer.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why some people believe the internet is of great benefit to our life. Firstly, it helps to keep in contact with people’s personal and professional relationships. For instance, international students can keep in touch with their families by making video calls which come from the contact applications such as Skype or the employees in multinational corporations now can have virtual meetings to report their work instead of commuting a long way. Secondly, users of the internet are not only offered the opportunities to communicate with familiar people but also to expand their social networks. To be more specific, by joining the social networking sites such as Facebook, people will approach a new online world which contains different people and by reading their biographies, they can decide whether to send a friend invitation and start a conversation or not. That is how the relationship between strangers be developed.
On the other hand, the opponents of consider it isolating people rather than connecting. The first reason of this protest could be the reduction of social interactions. When people appeal to the internet; they will spend hours sticking the eyes to technological gadgets screen and do not want to be interrupted by other activities which discourage real interactions. For instance, an internet addict would prefer to call for a food shipper rather than go to the restaurant with his friends or family. Furthermore, the overuse of the Internet also influences the interpersonal skills as most people now use smartphone or laptop all the time that makes the time for communication decrease significantly.
In conclusion, although it is partly true that the internet makes it easier for people to isolate themselves, I still advocate that it causes the bonding between people.
