Essay & Composition Writing

Ielts writing task 2:“Prevention is better than cure.” Out of a country’s health budget, a large propotion should be diverted from treatment to spending on health education and preventative measures. To what extent do you agree or disagree with...

It can not be denied that research and treatment need to have a great expense, so many people suggest that a great part of the health budget should be invested towards health education and precautionary measures. In my opinion, although prevention is the best therapeutic method and provide a healthier and happier society, research and treatment are also essential with some diseases are unpreventable.

One good reason why the authority should invest in preventative measure is because it is also indirectly boost the nation’s economic growth. As we know, the expenditure on remedies, lab tests, doctor’s fees and surgeons is massive. In fact, the government have to break the bank if the disease goes undetected and worsen at a later stage. However, the fortune can reduce if the administration pay a great attention to health education and prevention. For example, the more health campaigns are organized, the more dreadful disease such as AIDS or tuberculosis can be prevented. Hence, it will create a happier nation, in other word a boost in the economy which is very important, especially for any country that desire to be leading.

On the other hand, with the diseases are not prevented the treatment is a vital approach. With regard to this issue, hypertension and diabetes are known to be a hereditary disease so there is an adequate support in the area of cure. By this way, not only the purse-strings whose patients can be loosened but also it makes the treatment is more effective. Even the government-sponsored fund in the therapy is less than the others.
In conclusion, although it is essential for the government to fund a health education and precaution because of its role in ensuring a better nation, the importance of treating disease which can not be staved off, should not be abandoned
