Over the last few decades, the world has witnessed an alarming increase in the levels of youth crimes. There are a number of reasons for this and some possible solutions.
The foremost cause is connected with the family. In order for a child to grow up, it’s parents’ responsibility to nuture he or she well. However, these days, adults are so busy with their work that they have little time to give children support when needed, giving them the feeling of being abandoned. Another factor is the economic inequality, also know as the gap between rich and poor is increasing. Consequently, it means the poor will have to resort to illegal means to get what others have. Inevitably, this include children in poor families.
However, there are ways to tackle such problems. One of the ways to combat the problem is to have stricter punishments and tighten juvenile criminal law. Although underaged people do not have the same penalty as an adult, they should at least have a punishment adapted to the level of their crime. Furthermore, government should have more policies on poor households, helping poor families so those teenagers will be less likely to commit crimes.
In conclusion, the number of juvenile delinquent has increased recently. The main reasons are lack of education from the family and the gap between wealth and poverty. However, there are possible solutions stated in this essay, such as strictening laws for people under 18 and having more policies to help them escape poverty.
