Some people believe government should spend money on building train and subway lines to reduce traffic congestion. Others think that building more and wider roads is better to reduce traffic congestion. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

It has remained a subject of constant debate whether building train and subway lines or constructing more and larger roads is better. From my perspective, both views are advantageous in their own ways.

There are numerous reasons why constructing train and subway lines could improve the traffic congestion. To start with, building more public transport such as train and subway would reduce the usage of private vehicles. Also, the street would not become overcrowded and people would not be stuck in traffic jam. Furthermore, the fewer vehicles circulate on the road, the less emission released to the environment. In other words, everyone could get rid of many respiratory problems and have a higher life-quality.

Apart from the idea of building more train and subway line to reduce heavy traffic, there are some good reasons why constructing more and wider roads might be an effective way to lower traffic congestion. If the government invests in building more and wider road systems, people will have plenty of ways to get to a destination. In particular, less private vehicles would circulate on one old route than before and the traffic congestion could be tackled. Besides, constructing new road reduce the traffic accident, which directly caused a traffic jam. For those who use a two-wheel vehicle would not have to drive in the same lane with car drivers, thus, they could partly avoid unwanted accidents caused by a car.

In conclusion, although both building train and subway lines and constructing new and wider roads are effective to reduce traffic congestion, it seems to me that these two methods should be applied on different circumstances to get the best result to reduce traffic jam.
