IELTS WRITING TASK 2 - TOPIC: TECHNOLOGY

Thank you all very much for all the advice. showing gratitude to everyone. This time, I've tried to make it as less wordy as possible. I would appreciate it so much if anyone can spend some time to give me some comment. Again, thank you soo much.

Technological development leads a lot of environmental issues. Some people think a simple lifestyle can preserve the environment, while others argue that technology itself can solve it. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer include relevant examples.

Many environmental problems are resulted from technological advancements. While some people think that to solve those problems, we should simplify our lives, others argue that technology itself is the key to the issue. From my point of view, developing modern technology and pursuing simpler lifestyles are both viable measures, and it is optimal to integrate the two ideas.

Initially, many modern inventions discharge toxic substances into the environment during their operations. For instance, cars, fridges and air all emit huge amount of CFCs gases, which is the main underlying factor leading to the ozone layer’s depletion, and later worsen global warming. If we pursue a simpler lifestyle, such as minimalism, which reduces the use of unnecessary modern amenities, the condition of our planet will surely be improved.

However, despite their harmful effects, technological developments can also create modern inventions to resolve severe environmental problems. These range from the air purifiers that remove pollutant particles from the atmosphere, to artificial forests that are created to curb the harmful effects of deforestation. These inventions can alleviate the contamination or depletion of nature resources, and eventually, better the state of the environment. Moreover, advancements in technology can also lead to the discovery new energy sources, namely solar energy and nuclear energy, which are renewable and environmentally-friendly. Utilizing those types of energy reduces the carbon footprint and mitigates global warming, which are resulted from excessive emission and exhaust fumes from the use of fossil fuels.

In summary, even though advancements in technology have caused many negative effects to the planet, it can also create practical solutions for them. In order to solve the issues efficiently, we should invest in technological development, while at the same time control our uses of them in an appropriate level.
