IELTS WRITING TASK 2 ; Some people believe that women should play an equal role as men in country’s police force or military, while others think women are not suitable for these kinds of jobs. Discuss both views and give your opinion

It is a common belief that men outnumber women in the army and police force because of unforeseeable pitfalls. However, I believe that women should not suffer from gender discrimination in career fields.

On the one hand, there are several compelling reasons why people might argue that female employees do not belong to military areas. Firstly, it is obvious that working in a police force or military troop demands physical ability. In other words, muscle-bound men can perform better than their female counterparts. Secondly, another factor that may be ignored is the maternity leave of the working mother. This time is commonplace in other ordinary business fields but does not work with these special sectors, especially defending our nation in an emergency. What would happen if half of the female soldiers were on their parental leave?

On the other hand, being a supporter of feminism, I reckon that women should be treated equally in the police and armed forces. Thanks to computerization, many tasks are accomplished by recruits sitting in front of the screens rather than veterans. Moreover, there are some positions, such as medical service, data analysis, and supply management can be achieved by women. These days, with an increase in juvenile delinquency and female crime, policewomen are likely to have a good grasp of such cases and educate the criminals as well.

In conclusion, never has the stereotype of gender equality ceased in our whole community. I am convinced that women deserve to join in the army and police.
