Topic:
" Some people think that all university students should study whatever they like. Others believe thatbthey should only be allowed to study subjects that will be useful in the future, such as those related to science and technology. " Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. Write at least 250 words.
My essay:
It has been argued that all undergraduate students should have a vote to decide which courses they would enroll in instead of being forced to learn full lectures traditionally. Although the possibility of this idea has sparked a long debate, optional subjects seem to bring a myriad of significant benefits.
On the one hand, optional courses are inducive to all post-secondary education students. First, having rights to pick favorite subjects, students have flexibility in both time-consuming and money-spending. For example, an Economics student is under no obligation to attend Communication Relations class, which paves a way for them to sort out their order of business, dig deep their major such as Accounting or Human Resources Management and cut down on tuition fee. Second, an ideal way to acquire knowledge is to learn what you have a thing for. For instance, once students determine their passion and pursuits, they would be immersed in professional knowledge and learn productively.
On the other hands, alternative subjects seem to be fraught with pitfalls. First, full course at university arms students with basic knowledge, ditto fundamental skills which cultivate well-rounded mind for functioning academically and job opportunities. For example, rewarding Bachelor in Tourism offers the graduate a slew of different job positions such as Event Manager, Accountant, etc. Second, overall learning avails students in the long run. During study course, students might realize which path suits themselves, thereby having better future vision and wisely plan out their own career objectives.
In conclusion, there exists a controversy in student lecture selection. From my perspectives, the university should bring out more academic programs to not only help student narrow down unnecessary materials but also open the door for many other future career choices.
