IELTS writing Task 2: Research suggests that the majority of criminals who are sent to prison commit crimes when set free. What are the reasons? What can be done to solve the problem?

It is true that a large proportion of offenders who participated in crimes again after having been released from prison. There are some reasons for this reoffend, but there are some solutions to mitigate these issues.

On the one hand, I believe that there are two principal reasons for the return of life from crimes. Firstly, prison as a place of punishment, which does not help wrongdoers to reintegrate into society. Being an institution established to punish people who commit crimes, prisons impose severe punishments on crimes rather than give them training to find jobs when set free. This leads to the problem that ex-offenders pose a serious threat to society because they commit crimes again as a way of making a living such as shoplifting, pickpocketing or more serious crimes as murder. Secondly, there are a large number of dangerous criminals who influence others. As a result, the rate of ex-offenders participating in unlawful activities again increased sharply, which is a serious problem to society.

On the other hand, there are some solutions that can resolve these problems. Government should provide more rehabilitation programmes, education and vocational training that help ex-prisoners to get a job more easily when they return to society. If they could find jobs to make a living, they might not get involved in crimes and contribute to a good society. Furthermore, dangerous criminals who encourage others to offend must be isolated. It would be an effective way to reduce the crime rate in the city, as there are a lot of potential criminals who are influenced by them.

In conclusion, it is obvious that there are important reasons for this problem, but solutions are possible.
