IELTS Writing Task 2: Request for a review

Task 2: Some people work for the same organisation all their working life. Others think that it is better to work for different organisations.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Working for the same company for an entire career is a common practice among various people, while others prefer changing the companies from time to time. Personally, I believe that changing jobs is an essential part of a healthy career path.

On the one hand, sticking to one company for a long period of time gives stability in someone’s life. Especially, sense of stability is really important for married people, since it is significantly harder for families to move around various locations as it is usually required while switching the companies. For instance, their children might have to change schools, which can cause a lot of social issues for them. For children adapting to a new place is considerably worrisome than for adults. In addition, staying in one workplace usually gives a great chance for the person to master the tasks and responsibilities of the position. Consequently, they would have more confidence at their job, which can result in a great compensation packages.

On the other hand, staying in one place for a long time could cause some people depression. The main reason being, feeling of getting stuck in one place leads is one of the common ways to have detrimental effects on mental state. Therefore, some doctors usually advise people to alter their environment whenever they feel stuck. More importantly, finding one’s passion and dream job often takes two or more iterations, since it is highly unlikely that the first workplace is the one place you have been destined to work for.

To sum up, people differ in their opinion when it comes to choosing between staying in one company entirely or changing them sometimes. I believe that people should try several companies before choosing the one, since it takes more than one iteration to find the one and also healthier for the mental state to change environment.
