It is now possible for scientists and tourists to travel to remote natural environment, such as the South Pole. Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?

In recent years, unspoilt natural areas have become a place of interest for scientists and visitors to discover. Although the trend of travelling to these places brings some merits, drawbacks of it may be more significant.

On the one hand, discovering the natural environment offers considerable benefits. First, scientists can now excavate more mysterious antiques of people from the past and explore exotic species. As a result, they stand a chance of devising more tools for biotechnology or publishing new theories, thereby creating a breakthrough for humanity. Second, visiting previously unreachable scenic beauty could be a unique and distinctive experience for travellers. This is because they can enjoy the tranquil vibe and immerse in the world of diverse fauna and flora that they couldn’t find in busy cities, so that they have a chance to inhale more fresh air and escape from the hustle and bustle of urbanisation.

On the other hand, the drawbacks of visiting remote natural spots may be more immense. To begin with, the more flocks of tourists travel to these scenic landscapes, the more these places degenerate. Some travellers, in fact, don’t conscious of their unkind actions they did to the environment here, which deteriorates the stunning scenery and decreases the biological diversity there. On top of that, the presence of visitors in these locations might pose massive threats to the locals. If visitors have positive feedbacks on natural travel locations they have visited, investors may allocate their money for projects of constructing new hotels and recreational facilities here. Consequently, indigenous people may be on the verge of losing their cultural identity and even be evicted from their accommodation.

In conclusion, while the idea of visiting picturesque scenery in distant regions might sound exciting, I myself believe that the merits of this trend cannot justify its disadvantages.
