Many people think that being born to a poor country is unlucky; however, others believe that it only motivates one to try to achieve success. Although I am more in favor of the latter opinion, this essay will discuss both views.
There are several reasons why people hold a belief that being born to a third-world country is a bad luck. First, a country can be impoverished because of rampant corruption and the lack of transparency. This may lead to that the citizens can hardly be happy when their money is wasted and stolen by corrupt officials. Second, poverty can block people’s access to basic education across income classes and health care services. More importantly, the resulting lack of knowledge and skills may result in the grim career prospect while limited access to health care services, in the worst-case scenario, can put an end to one’s life.
Nevertheless, I agree with the opinion that poverty only makes people stronger. To begin with, while people in rich countries can live on social security benefits, citizens and poorer countries have to work harder to survive. Consequently, poor people are often left with no choice but to fight, be it a fight for hope or, simply, food. Furthermore, living in crushing poverty can teach them survival lessons which can normally be found anywhere else. Japan offers an excellent example of how poverty and sufferings can be turned into dreams and aspirations when the Japanese transformed their country into a superpower after the Second World War.
In conclusion, I believe that a poor background and the challenges would help gear them up for a brighter future.
