Ielts writing task 2 please review my essay

Some people think that in the modern world, getting old is entirely bad. Others, however, think that the life of the elderly in the modern world is much better than it was in the past. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

In modern society, some people feel that getting old is something certainly negative. Whilst others believe that nowadays old people have a much better life than in the past. From my perspective, although the life of the elderly might be more convenient, old people living in the modern world are presumably not happier than those who live in the past.

Those who believe that in today’s world getting old is something probably harmful might think that old people nowadays are given little attention from their families and that fills them with a sense of loneliness. Seemingly, since young people today spend most of their time working and studying, the time they spend with their ageing parents is extremely limited. This is the main reason why people tend to feel lonely in old age. Additionally, the cost of living in modern society has become increasingly expensive. Therefore, with a humble pension, old people might find it hard to live comfortably.

Conversely, those who argue that today the standard of living of the elderly has improved dramatically compared to the past might believe that old people now live more healthily than before. Due to the advances in health-care technologies, old people nowadays can manage their health conditions without going to hospitals, thus, allowing them to reduce potential health problems. For example, today the old can monitor their blood pressure by just wearing an apple watch.

My view is that despite the advantages that technologies bring, the elderly nowadays are not happier than those living in the past. This is because I believe that being cared for and loved is the most important gift that everyone wants to receive in old age. Unfortunately, it seems that old people are being ignored in the modern world.
