Question:

More and more people are busy with work and do not have enough time to spend with their families and friends. Why does this happen? What are the effects on family and society as a whole?

In recent years, people has been spent too much time on work so that they have not had enough time for family life and for their friends. There are several reasons for this trend, and it has some negative impacts on family as well as society.

In my opinion, there are two main reasons why some people now are so busy with work. First, people have to face with rising living costs. The fact that living costs in big cities has rose more than 50% for recent years shows that people, especially who live in big cities resort to work hard to meet basic survival needs. Second, the job market become more and more competitive, therefore many people have to work hard to keep their jobs. As shown in a report of a study published in Vietnam Economics magazine, there have been 80000 labors entering job market each year. This means many people are at greater risk of unemployment if they do not work well enough.

Nevertheless, this trend has some negative consequences for society and family life. The first one is that many people do not have enough time to relate to their family members. Some teenagers, for instance, complain that they hardly talk to their parents because they go to work very early and come home too late. Furthermore, children are not received enough education from their parents, thus the quality of future generations of society may be affected. According to the Oxford authorities, the parents of most of children who usually play truant often stay away from home and hardly have time for them.

In conclusion, some people nowadays do not have enough time for their families and friends as a result of the increase of living costs and the competition of job market. However, this trend has some negative impacts on family life and society such as lack of home education for children and separation between family members.
