The range of technology available to people is increasing the gap between the rich and the poor. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement.

As the accessibility of technology to the public increases inexorably in recent years, the gap between the rich and the poor has emerged as a topic of interest. It is argued that the innovations that we currently have at our disposal have actually widened the income gap. While this thinking is valid to a certain extent, I believe that discounting the good effects technology has on our lives would be impossible

There are many compelling reasons why technology gives rise to the gaping wealth gap. On the individual level, wealthy people will stand a better chance of getting high-tech necessities, which the indigent can not afford. On the societal level, the growth of the industry, prompted by technology, has made a small percentage of the population exponentially richer than the rest. This may acts as a precursor to increasing the gap in their socio-economic background.

However, despite the aforementioned reasons, I would contend that technological innovations, in fact, can lift people out of poverty. Today, the success of startups in setting up in business is questionable at best. However, if advanced technology improves to a certain extent, it will be no longer infeasible for everyone to start their own business. In addition to this, innovations will give the indigent opportunities to find higher-paying jobs. For instance, Grab, which is an on-demand ride-hailing app in Vietnam has helped poor people to earn their livelihood.

In conclusion, while the effects of technology in widening the wealth gap among the public seem to be reasonable, I believe that the gap between poor people and rich people will be bridged in light of the proliferation of technology
