Some people think that it is better to educate boys and girls in separate school. Other, however, believe that boys and girls benefit more from attending mixed schools.

The topic of whether single-sex education or mixed education is better still remains controversial. Some people opine that students gain more benefits in single-sex schools while others claim mixed schools are the best environment for them. I personally agree with the latter opinion and this essay will shed light on both views.

On the one hand, people support separate schools because they prevent students from distraction. They claim that students are almost unlikely to have romantic feelings for their opposite-sex schoolmates that may result in dwindling studying productivity. Furthermore, students might encounter less pressure. In mixed schools, they face a lot of comparisons with their opposite-sex friends from their teachers which can ruin their confidence and self-esteem, contributing to an unstable mentality. However, this is no longer a problem in separate schools; instead, they have a more positive environment to focus on their work. For example, pupils engaging in this type of education tend to have better school performance than those in mixed academies as stated in survey in Iran.

On the other hand, I opine that single-sex education is still a better choice for every student. This education system is more fun since the curriculums include extracurricular activities for both boys and girls. It brings about the diversity of school essence; hence, students can have access to things that are originally supposed to belong to the opposite gender. In Vietnam, skipping rope used to be a girly sport until mixed schools were established to break this prejudice. On top of that, this environment gives students opportunities to improve interpersonal skills with opposite-sex people, which is needed for their development in confidence and self-assurance. This helps them to strike up romantic relationships with their future partners.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that mixed schools are of utmost importance in children’s social development, making them more well-rounded and confident. Therefore, educators should be fostered to apply more of this studying structure profoundly around the world.
