IELTS writing task 2. Please help me with this!

Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some people believe that there should be a balanced number of males and females in a university subject. This could be seen as a positive trend that yields certain benefits; however, I think that it should not become a must in every case.

On the one hand, having an equal quantity of male and female students in all subjects is a good deed growing out of understandable reasons and can actually bring positive benefits. Some people want to balance the past situation when we only had men in science and women in literature classes which led to an unequal workforce later on. Besides, female and male students have different capacities, skills, and schools of thought that can be effectively shared and learned. Female and male students in the same class can now discuss their subject matters and correct each other, thereby having the opportunity to grow as an individual and as a group.

On the other hand, it is not always easy to form a class where females and males are accepted in the same numbers. It is widely acknowledged that although men and women share some common interests and favorite subjects, they also have dissimilar academic likings and choices of majors. Therefore, universities may find it really hard to find enough male and female students in every class. In addition, males and females do not necessarily have to study in the same class and major in order to learn from each other. Even if the students are all females in a subject, they can always participate in group discussions with males in the school clubs to share their specialties and experience.

In conclusion, despite the fact that it can be really good for a university to have an equal number of male and female students in all subjects, we should not consider it as a must since both cases have their own virtues and bad sides.
