In some countries, a few people earn extremely high salaries. Some people think that this is good for a country, while others believe that the government should control salaries and limit the amount people can earn.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

There is an opinion that people earning a large amount of money can bring benefits to their country, while others believe how much we earn should be limited by the government. Although the latter argument may hold some truth, I agree more with the sooner one.

On the one hand, there are reasons why some people believe there should be a limit to what people can earn. That is because income disparity can lead to a gap between the high and low income groups, which means there will be big differences in their quality of life. For instance, in Ho Chi Minh City, one of the most developed cities in Vietnam, high-paid citizens live in high-rise buildings and enjoy luxury food, while the low-income group are packed in dilapidated houses, eat low-quality food, and may envy affluent people. If the gap between people’s pay were not so big, their quality of life might be equal and they might be happier.

On the other hand, that several people make a large income can be significantly beneficial to a country. No one can control how much somebody earns since their salary is based on their ability and contribution to the society. A nation with rich people who receive high salaries for their work is a nation with capable and aspiring citizens. This means they can help build a better society using their talents. Moreover, high-paid people still have to fulfill their tax duties and the government can use these tremendous amounts of money to develop the economy.

In conclusion, I believe the government should not cap people’s salaries because high-paid citizens can help develop a nation and the taxes they pay can be of great help to the economy.
