IELTS Writing Task 2 - Please help me review my essay

Topic: Some people think the newspaper is the most effective way to obtain the latest information because it has more influence than other forms of media. Do you agree or disagree?

It is sometimes argued that the newspaper is considered as the most efficient channel to gain the latest news. Personally, I completely disagree with this view because of some certain reasons.

There are several reasons why many people believe that the newspaper is the best media. First, the newspaper has become a familiar media channel with many people, especially the elderly. Newspapers have appeared for a long time, so many people nowadays still have been keeping the habit of picking up a newspaper every morning. They believe that they can update the latest information from that. Second, the newspaper easily creates a good impression on readers because of the news is published in a formal and highly reliable way. For this reason, there are a number of readers who only receive and trust the news posted in the newspaper.

Apart from the practical benefits expressed above, I strongly believe that the newspaper is not the most effective way to obtain the latest information. The first reason is that the newspaper takes much of time in producing. After a journalist reports about an event which happens in one day, the news must go through a complex process including editing and printing carefully before being officially published. Therefore, people usually can read that news on the following day. This situation makes the news out-of-date. Furthermore, I argue that the Internet is a media channel more effective than newspaper at present. The Internet with the fastest connection offers up-to-date news. With a simple process, a wealth of information can be uploaded on the website some seconds after the events happened. As a result, many people are gradually breaking the habit of reading newspapers and begin to use the internet.

In conclusion, for the reasons I have mentioned above, I maintain that the newspaper is no longer the most effective method to update the latest news nowadays.
