IELTS WRITING TASK 2: Please help me check this essay

Whoever controls the media also controls opinions and attitudes of the people and there is little that can be done to rectify this. To what extent do you agress or disagree?

The media have become very popular today. It is an enormous influence on people and the world around them. So the power of the media is undeniable.

With access to the Internet and cable television, the news is broadcast 24 hours a day. We are able to catch up with up-to-date information from any part of the world just by reading newspapers, magazines,... or watching television. Therefore, those sources of news can sometimes affect the way people think. Especially people who are easily swayed tend to accept the opinions of the journalists or broadcasters immediately without even considering the issues by themselves. Additionally, some publishers often exaggerate the news, which can give us a distorted view of what's happening and change our attitudes towards the problems.
So the media does affect people, but it can never control our thoughts and attitudes because we still have our own opinions of a situation or a celebrity. Moreover, many ones find it difficult to change their mind so they are seldom affected by others' opinions.

Another reason is that although there are a lot of unreliable information sources, such as tabloids or yellow journalism, most people now are aware of them because of their experience in being tricked or deceived. They know that the news stories which those newspapers carry may be untrue or exaggerated. Therefore, they become wary and stay alert when reading them so that they can have an appropriate attitude towards the problems.

In conclusion, the media have a significant effect on our lives. But we should not depend on newspapers or magazines too much. Instead, we have to form our own opinions about a problem before reading articles and should never let the media control our thoughts.
