Topic: As well as making money, businesses also have social responsibilities. Do you agree or disagree?

My essay:

It is a argument that, beside making money, companies also have to have public responsibilities. In my opinion, while generating profit is the most important task for each enterprise. I agree that they need also orienting their business in a socially responsible manner.

On the one hand, there are somereasons why companies maximise their profits may be beneficial for society as a whole. One reason is that the more profits generated by business, the more taxes they contribute to the government. As an result, authorities may have more budgets to cover in main areas, including infrastructure and education, that play an integral part in improving the quality of life in every country. Furthermore, if the companies are operated effectively, this will have positive influences on the countries’ development. For example, firms could spend their capital to expand their scale production, giving more job opportunities.

On the other hand, there are strong reasons that business should also admit that they have public responsibilities. Firstly, their activities carry more potential environment risks. If they lose control, production processes may have negative impact on the environment such as global warming because of the irresponsible disposal of industrial waste. For instant, if factories build waste treatment system instead of pushing mixture of wastes into rivers and lakes, water environment could be kept under control. Secondly, enterprises should help the disabled and the poor more if they have capacity to do it. This is true of, big corporations such as Vingroup and HoaPhat Group have enhanced their fame through good actions such as building schools, hospitals and offering scholarships.

For the reasons mentioned above, I agree business have to make money, but I believe that all businesses should associated their benefits with social responsibilities.
