IELTS WRITING TASK 2: Please help me

Fashion trends are difficult to follow these days and it’s widely believed that they primarily exist just to sell clothes. Some people believe that we shouldn’t follow them and that we should dress in what we like and feel comfortable in.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Today young people usually want to be fashionable, so fashion trends are very popular. But it has been believed that they are only present for commercial purposes and we can hardly follow them. In my perspective, people should not spend too much on the latest fashion and wear clothes that they like.
First of all, those trends change constantly so it's very difficult to keep up with all the latest ones. Besides, we will waste a lot of time in our lives if we often want to make sure that our clothes are on-trend or nothing we wear on the body is old-fashioned. Moreover, most of those outfits are tremendously expensive. Not all people can afford to buy them, therefore, they can be a drain on our funds.
Second, some companies tend to set new trends just to advertise their products. As a result, when we try to follow the trends, we are helping them gain their success and popularity. More importantly, if we pay too much attention to what to choose to look fashionable, we may become a slave to fashion. When that happens, we just waste money on clothes that we do not need even if those outfits are not very impressive or do not suit us. And I assume this devalues the real beauty of fashion. Besides, we may also lose the ability to creatively mix and match fashion items to create the best outfits.
In contrast, if we choose to wear clothes which we feel comfortable in, we may save a lot of time as well as money. It's fundamentally because people can easily make spectacular outfits just by choosing suitable items and mixing them appropriately and creatively.
In conclusion, we should only spend money on clothes that we want to wear.
