[IELTS Writing task 2] Please help !

Topic:

Some people think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace. Others think that the true function of a university should be to give access to knowledge for its own sake, regardless of whether the course is useful to an employer .

What, in your opinion, should be the main function of a university ?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Nowadays, students are concerned about what they will learn in university. However, whether mainly function of a university should be job-related skills or pure knowledge has caused heated debate. My view is that pure knowledge should be the main focus of a university.

One reason for this is that focus on giving access to knowledge is make variety of information which allow people to enter in many of jobs involve. This mean that if we choose deeply knowledge, we will able to get job easily and it also create chances for learning into master level instead of hard trying the way job-related skills do. So, according to history, it solve that people with high and deeper knowledge in some concrete field will do job better than the other one in a long time.

Besides, the pure knowledge have much more documentary than job-related skills. For example, at the book store, we can easily find many of academic book, document but hard to find any of skills in workplace book. If students take most advantages of this huge sources of knowledge, not only gain enormous of progress, but also be a great scientists and scholars in the future.

That is not to say that university should not pay any attention to job-related skills. Indeed, everyone need workplace skills because it increasing individual's quality much and give confident. For example, human with many of workplace skills will have faster speed, more smooth and do job easier. But unfortunately, these people cannot go so far in study process.

In sum, the mainly function of university should be pure knowledge. Meanwhile, quality of learning will be more improve if we learn job-related skills during practice time and combine with academic knowledge. By doing so, we can make sure that almost students feel comfortable, balance and more confident while learning.
