People say that a country will benefit greatly if its students study abroad. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It can be argued that a nation would have benefits from letting its students go oversea to pursue the education in international environment. As far as I am concerned, I partly disagree with this statement. Although the positivity can be observed through the international updated knowledge, a country may lose its best students.
On the one hand, when studying abroad, the pupils would get the opportunity to approach the latest knowledge from that country. In fact, many developed nations such USA, the UK have preceded with the major technological breakthroughs. Thus, if they absorb the knowledge from these countries, they will adapt it and make the innovations. As a result, these innovations might change their home country and give it a clear edge over other nations.
On the other hand, it is unavoidable that the phenomenon called brain drain would occur among every countries. To be specific, the large number of students, who initially go internationally for educational purposes, might settle as a resident because of the progressive living condition of other regions. Ultimately, students' intellectual property could be no longer possessed by their own country. As a result, the brain drain problem would have a huge impact on a country's workforce.
To conclude, despite the development of studying abroad is positive, I only partly disagree with this. While the rich stream of knowledge would be gained from allowing students to go to another countries to pursue education, there is a chance to brain drain phenomenon happening and inflicting a country's human resources.
