Consumers are faced with increasing numbers of advertisements from competing companies. To what extent do you think consumers are influenced by advertisements? What measures can be taken to protect them?

It is true that an enormous number of advertisements from competing firms affect the buyers significantly. From my perspective, the advertising industry has a huge impact on the consumers. Also the authorities and media should involve in the protection campaign of the customers.

To begin with, being a target audience, the purchasers are badly influenced by the advertising enterprises. The consumers are easily swayed by the advertisements due to the attractiveness of those advertising figure such as celebrity endorsements, coupons, giveaways, etc. The companies, for instance, slash the prices of products in prime time television which can attract a lot of buyers. In order that the customers just buy goods compulsively and they will be regret in the long run. On top of that, some online advertising contain misinformation and also broadcast propaganda which can threaten the society.

Therefore, the governments and the media industry need to have some remedies in order to protect the purchasers. Firstly, some strictly regulations should be imposed on the advertisements, as a result, the consumers can be certainly assure that they won’t buy anything unwisely and be misunderstanding. People, for example, must be wary of those catchy advertising link in order not to buy fake or low quality stuffs. Secondly, the electronic media must limit bad influenced advertisements via online or even commercial advertising. Hence, the buyers won’t be caught attention by those distorted advertising.

In conclusion, there is no doubt that the customers are be under the influence of advertisements and that people can only be sheltered from such harms with interference from authorities and media.
