Topic: Some countries achieve international sports by building specialized facilities to train top athletes, instead of providing sports facilities that everyone can use. Do you think this is positive or negative development?
It is claimed that some countries built specialized sport facilities to train top tier athletes, instead of making a sport center for everyone. While I accept that there are good reasons why those countries invest in international sport training centers in their countries, I believe that everyone should have a place to train their body and keep healthy.
One the one hand, there are some benefits when a country builds an international sport center to produce top tier athletes. Firstly, the training expenditure of athlete teams on abroad coaching would be reduced significantly thanks to the fully equipped of the infrastructure. For instance, Japan has long been known for its gold medal in the Olympic due to their appropriate training methods and modern facilities. Secondly, it could be a best place for the young citizens to pursue their dream of the gold medal. They could be trained into their favorite kind of sports and develop their hidden potential to become a top tier athlete.
On the other hand, there will be some negative effects if residents have no place to keep healthy and train themselves. First reason is that the facilities would take up a vast space to be built. Consequently, people will lack of places to go to relax or do exercises, which could be a negative effect to their life quality. The second reason is that the lack of sport centers might unfortunately increase the proportion of people having a sedentary lifestyle. This could lead to many health risks such as obesity, heart problems and even diabetes.
In conclusion, while I accept that there might be beneficial to build specialized sport centers to produce top athletes, I believe that there are still some drawbacks on the life of the people living in vicinity areas.
