Topic: Some people think that it is a waste of money for countries to host big sporting events like the world cup, and that the money would be better spent on other things. However, others think that hosting large sporting events has a clear, positive impact on a country.
Discuss both these views and give your opinion.

Answer

Before each World Cup or Olympics , there are cutthroat competitions among nations with the purpose of hosting tremendous events which are unique opportunities to boost national reputation of host countries. While some people argue that it is a wealth of money and that should be utilized to better the society, others, myself included, believe that its benefits are definitely undeniable.

On the one hand, these competitions waste a considerable amount of resources of host nations for transitoriness. To assure the success of tournaments, the governments have to use up tremendous resources, up to billions of dollars, invest in newly constructed facilities, improvements and innovations. Additionally, the cost of develop quality of stadiums and places where matches take place is extremely high since it includes employee’s wages, payments for buildings and utilities. However, almost of all these state-of-the-art amphitheaters often fall into disuse after each competition. Meanwhile, there are a multitude of key issues are related to healthcare for elderly population, education and the quality of living, and the governments should prioritize those.

On the other hand, hosting such spectacular sporting events like the World Cup or the Olympics does wonders for host nation in economics and tourism. To demonstrate, those tournaments attract visitors and participants from all over the world so as to encourage their national teams. As a result, there is an influx in the number of tourists, and they need to rent apartments or rooms, find restaurants to eat and purchase goods during the tournaments. Furthermore, this is also a perfect opportunity for the hosts to promote national reputations as travelers will come and enjoy the services and the live there.

All in all, although the cost of hosting a big sporting events is usually extravagant, and that budget should be concentrate on giving higher standard of living for citizens, I believe that these competitions are the bridges that connect us to the big fans worldwide.
