IELTS Writing Task 2: Opinion

It is said that the money is being wasted on the arts by the government while others think that the budget should be directed elsewhere. Although I agree that government investments in elsewhere like public services play a very important role, I think that proper funding for the arts sector is also crucial for society.

On the one hand, the government should definitely contribute a part of the budget on other different public services rather than arts. This economic sector determines the overall quality of life in order to ensure that some basic services such as schools, hospitals and roads. For instance, any country can live without music concerts, but lack of medicine will create significant problems. That’s why the government should invest in public services in the first thing.

On the other hand, arts are considered to be a great form of entertainment by several people in the country. For example, movie, exhibition and music concerts are an integral part of the social-cultural. Moreover, visiting the museum, watching movies and listening to music are common ways of relaxation and entertainment. Thus, art sector is also necessary for society.

To conclude, though I agree that the government should contribute a large part of its budget on public services, arts play an important role in society. I would like to emphasise the fact that the government should invest most of the fund in crucial services like the public healthcare which help in building stronger nations.
