IELTS Writing Task 2 Jobs and gender

Men and women are different in terms of their characteristics and abilities. For this reason, some jobs are better done by men and others by women.

Do you agree or disagree?

These days, much work that was mostly done by men in the past is having more and more women involving. Many think this change will bring a new sense of equality between both genders but I personally believe that some jobs are only suitable to one gender and not the other.

My primary point is that some job's nature are just too unsafe and unfitable for women. Especially work related to chemical substances or toxic products. We all know that if someone who frequently contact with hazard pollutants for a long time they will likely to get poisoned despite how much careful they are. These disadvantages are not to be ignored because to everyone's well being are the most valuable thing to them. However, for women the problem are far more serious and critical than in men as it not only threaten their health which are generally weaker than most men by default but also having a negative impact on their birth function. Some would go to such length to claim that they don't have the intention of having children and set career as their life's goal, but there is always the possibility that some of them would change their mind later and they would never know. So in order to avoid any future regret, I believe women should choose their careers with a great consideration in mind.

Secondly, I would say that there are some jobs, especially manual labours are done better by men than women. First of all, I believe strength that required for these job are most commonly found in men rather than in women. This result is not because of difference in talent between both genders but due to fixed biological factors. Aside from that, women can seek opportunities in other work fields and utilise their own advantages to get success in their career's paths.

In conclusion, I believe that both genders have their own advantages and disadvantages which greatly influence their choice of career. Everyone should fully understand the limitations of themselves to choose what is the most suitable for them.
